'SCAREware' is everywhere!

Yup, that's right.  SCARE...ware...  

The criminals are trying to scare you into clicking orcalling some 800 number that is NOT who you think they are.

The thing is, these scare's really play on our fears.  Maybe we were innocently looking for the next cute outfit that's coming into fashion this summer.  Or...  maybe we were just trying to find an answer to that question that we just asked Google.  

Instead, the next thing we know:

Whamo!  Bam-o!

Siren's and Alarm Bells are going off

Our computer is actually talking at you, saying:

YOU'VE BEEN INFECTED!  

DON'T TURN OFF YOUR COMUTER!!

CALL US ...NOW...!

and you see something like this:

Uh, yeah, right.  So, if this happens to you or someone you love, what do you do?  Well, first and foremost...

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Relax, don't do it, when you wanna go to it...

DON'T CLICK ON ANYTHING!

DON'T CALL THAT NUMBER ON YOUR SCREEN

DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

DON'T PANIC!

Instead:

1. Close your eyes and take a deep breath

2. IGNORE EVERYTHING that's happening

3. Keep breathing, open your eyes

4. Reach over to your computer

5. Press and HOLD down your POWER BUTTON

6. Don't let go until the computer turns off, and you don't hear anything.  No random voices, no sirens, no alarms...
   Not even a fan.

Whew!  

Now what?  

1. Wait a good 5 minutes

2. Turn the computer back on
   
   Most likely when you see your normal desktop screen, the scareware will be gone and everything will seem like it's gone back to normal.  It probably is, but don't take things for granted.   

(If it's still there, turn the computer off again and call us right away.)
